Tiny Beast wrote the album not knowing it would be an album until Jordan informed us she'd be leaving to move to India. So Feb 2015 we went up in a snow storm to record at Alex's cabin. After the storm knocked the lights out and froze the pipes, we still got in all 10 tracks on the little old reel to reel the next two days. It was our idea to keep the process simple and true to our live sound and recorded each song as one take. I mean we played them multiple times but only took one of them to the album instead of tracking out each instrument. That is boring tho, so I'll just leave off saying the fried tofu and stirfry won the musical cook off that weekend.
Here's a little history about us:
Tom and Johnny used to be in a punk band, Phoney Moaners, in the late 90s early 00s. Jon and Tom have been jamming together for years in Brooklyn. Before that Jon has played in multiple rock bands around NYC. Jordan has been playing folk for many years around NYC. Johnny has toured the US multiple times with his Tin Tree Factory project. Tom also writes electronic and hip hop music. We all came together at the old Pfizer building on Flushing Ave at Savaria Studios to write music with an up beat nature while still pushing our collective creativity to learn and basically have a blast being loud.
